Death Cafe | Hosted by Dani LaVoire

5:30 pm | THURSDAY, MARCH 12Death Cafe Teacup

Welcome to the Death Cafe discussion group at the Peregrine, hosted by Dani LaVoire. We meet at 5:30 pm on the second Thursday of the month.

“We live knowing that everything dies. Like the sun, it’s a fact of life. And like the sun, we tend not to look right at it. Unless you’ve experienced a recent death, it’s probably not something you discuss. But a new movement is trying to change that, with a serving of tea and cake.”

About Death Cafe

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is "to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives." A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. Death Cafes have spread quickly across Europe, North America and Australasia. So far, they have offered 7,584 Death Cafes in 64 countries since September 2011.
