Join us at the Peregrine for a conversation with Local Prescott author Chelly Bolger Wathen and to meet Shayla the dog she rescued from Ukraine. Chelly will talk about the two books she wrote about her shepherd/wolfdog, Shayla after her family rescued Shayla from an orphanage in Ukraine. Prescott Dog Magazine carried her story in their January/February edition book number one, Shayla and Friends tells the true story of Shayla’s rescue and adoption from overseas to her forever family (Chelly and her husband) in America. The book also tells what happened to the orphanage “Father’s House” family that raised her, and of their exodus out of Ukraine in the midst of the current war trauma. Book number two is a children’s book is a fanciful adventure of Shayla and an orphan boy, pretending to be pirates at the ocean. This tale shares valuable lessons of love and friendship. A book signing will follow the talk.
