Heinrich Lyle: Shameless Dick, Odyssey of a Cad | Reading, Q&A, Booksigning

7 pm | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16shameless dick

A modern Dante and his bevy of Beatrices take the reader on a road to hell—and back—lined with tangled sheets.

Join us for a reading and discussion of a highly literary work of adult fiction. Nibbles and adult beverages will be served. Feel free to attend with or without a mask. The author and Peregrine staff will be wearing them.

Heinrich Lyle's (nome de plume) originality is not only in his crisply presented, shocking, and unexpected content, but also in the poetic form in which he writes, resembling Dante's Divine Comedy—Inferno and Purgatory minus Paradise.

About the Book

To the depths of his own inferno Richard Linden descends. A gigolo and fortune hunter at the end of his tether, Richard makes one last, desperate grab for the brass ring. But Fate has other plans for Shameless Dick, who walks the fine line between Hope and Purgatory.

This intriguing story, aimed at the mature reader, although by no means pornographic (rather a study in anti-eroticism) is so bizarre and atypical that the writer's wife refused to talk to him for a week after reading the manuscript because it was fascinating but abnormal and repulsive. And who could blame her: the main character's career of sexually serving desperate, rich woman comes to a dramatic turn when he is hired by the father who wants to have a grandchild from his severely deformed daughter chained to the attic floor.
